A visit to The Waterman doesn’t have to end when last orders are called. Enjoy a stay in one of our eight comfortable, ensuite bedrooms. Situated above our lively pub on the bustling streets a short walk from the centre of Cambridge, it is perfect for those weekends away exploring the sights of the city or somewhere cosy to lay your head after a successful business trip.
The rooms at The Waterman combine comfort, character, and everything needed for a relaxed stay in the heart of Cambridge. Perfect for solo travellers, couples, business trips, or weekend getaways, the rooms offer a welcoming base just moments from the city centre and River Cam.
Guests can enjoy great food, perfectly poured drinks, live sport, and a lively pub atmosphere downstairs before retreating to a comfortable room above the pub for the night.
Guests with 4 paws are most welcome. Your pup will get a VIP welcome with a doggy hamper full of tasty tail-wagging treats, a doggy bed or blanket and bowl.
World Cup nights. Premier League drama. Champions League under the lights. Rugby weekends done properly. At The Waterman, every major sporting moment is shown live with Sky Sports and TNT Sports.
Cold pints. Big screens. Great food. A buzzing atmosphere from first whistle to last orders.
Perfect for intimate events, weddings, and corporate trips, our bedrooms keep your whole party close to the action. Stylish, comfortable, and central — with easy access to the best pub (in our eyes) in Cambridge.
Set beside the river in one of Cambridge’s most characterful neighbourhoods, The Waterman is perfectly placed to explore the city at a slower pace. Spend the morning wandering along the River Cam, watching the punts drift by beneath the bridges, before crossing into the historic centre where cobbled lanes, independent bookshops, and grand college buildings sit around every corner. Whether it’s your first visit or a familiar return, Cambridge has a way of drawing you in gently.
For those looking to experience the city like a local, there’s plenty beyond the postcard views. Browse the market square for artisan food and vintage finds, take a riverside walk towards Midsummer Common, or settle into one of the city’s tucked-away wine bars and pubs for a long afternoon. Cambridge is equally suited to slow weekends and lively evenings, with theatre, live music, late-night bars and independent restaurants all within easy reach of the Waterman.
Culture lovers can spend hours exploring world-famous colleges, galleries and museums, while food and drink enthusiasts will find everything from relaxed brunch spots to tasting menus and traditional pubs. In the warmer months, the city comes alive outdoors — picnics on the grass, spritzes by the river and punting at golden hour become part of the rhythm of the day.
Then, once the city has been explored, there’s something especially comforting about returning to the pub. A proper pint downstairs, good food, relaxed rooms upstairs and the easy atmosphere of a neighbourhood local — the simple pleasures done well.
Check-in is from 3pm. Arriving early and want to head out? No problem, we’ll hold on to your bags until you’re back.
